Porsche is also set to introduce a facelift for its road-going 911 next year, making it a Type-991.2, and it’s possible some of the visual tweaks planned for the road car will transfer over to this racing version. It’s hard to tell, though, as this prototype is heavily masked. With the modifications, we can expect downforce to be up and overall balance improved.
It’s also hard to tell what mechanical changes will be taking place. Power in the current RSR comes from a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine that rates at 460 horsepower. The engine is paired with a lightweight sequential gearbox that utilizes paddle shifters on the steering wheel. A similar setup should feature in the updated car.
A debut should take place early next year.
