McLaren has announced it will test the Honda power unit in an F1 car for the first time at Silverstone on Friday.
Honda makes its return to F1 as engine supplier to McLaren next season, a year in to the new power unit regulations. Having run a Mercedes power unit in this year's car, McLaren is preparing an interim MP4-29H which will accommodate the Honda in order carry out initial checks ahead of more likely running at the Abu Dhabi in-season test.
Due to testing restrictions the only way to run the current car is during a filming day, with demonstration tyres from Pirelli being used.
